Annual Real Estate and Tax Sale

The annual Tax Sale will be held at the Joseph G. Cannon Building on the 2nd floor in the County Board Meeting Chambers, November 1st, 2023 – 1:30 p.m. Anyone interested in being a tax buyer must complete the Certificate of Registration, found in the Tax Sale Buyer package, and return it to the Treasurer’s office no later than 10 business days prior to the tax sale. (October 17th, 2023).

The fees for the actual tax sale are:

  • $500 Refundable Deposit (required, refundable only if bidding is unsuccessful)
  • $100 Electronic File in Excel format, required

Fees that will be added to each real estate parcel purchased at the tax sale:

  • $20.00 Indemnity Fee
  • $10.00 Tax Sale Automation Fee
  • $60.00 Sale In Error Fee / Tax Sale Fee
  • $4.00 County Clerk Fee

Fees that will be added to each mobile home purchased at the tax sale:

  • $20.00 Indemnity Fee
  • $10.00 Tax Sale Automation Fee
  • $10.00 Sale In Error Fee / Tax Sale Fee
  • $4.00 County Clerk Fee

Instructions for Paying Subsequent Taxes

  • You must be present when sub-taxes are being processed.
  • You will be responsible for posting with the County Clerk.
  • Your list must be typed or neatly handwritten in black ink.
  • Your list must be in parcel number order.

Sub-tax payments will be accepted starting mid-September. Contact the Treasurer’s Office for exact dates.

Please Note: Open Forfeitures can be added to an open tax sale certificate in the same manner as subsequent taxes. This can be done in the Treasurer’s office.
